Aircraft my Father Flew
From Planes to Jets and Rotary Wings
1946-1951
(1946 & 1947) My father started his pilot experience after the war on November 10, 1946 in an Aeronca 65. His formal flight training began on November 22, 1946 when he started working on his private pilot license. He completed his Private Pilot License in a Piper J3C and made his solo flight on January 11, 1947. Here are pictures of the types of planes he flew from 1946 to 1951.
Aeronca 65
Piper J3C
He first worked as a Bush Pilot for a Doctor in Maine and flew a Piper Cub J-3 with floats. He has some neat Bush pilot stories. He flew out of Old Town Airport in Maine and flew many hunters and fisherman to remote locations.
